Working mothers thwarted by lack of flexibility



The majority of working mothers are still frustrated by the lack of flexible working options available to them, according to research.

A poll of 1,100 mothers by job site Workingmums.co.uk, found that 73% believed the lack of appropriate flexible work was the biggest barrier to returning to work.

Don't say "I'm unemployed"

I love meeting new people, even if it makes me a little nervous. But one set of words that I hear at mixers and networking events makes me really want to run for the hills. You may have uttered these words. And I want to share some alternatives with you, so that you'll make more connections, rather than having people dash off. Last night, I attended a fun networking event in Berkeley, full of people who are on LinkedIn. The event was hosted by Ilene Koehler, who set us up in speed-dating fashion, to mix and mingle for five minutes per "couple," and then move on.

Child or Career

I would like to hear from moms that had to make a decision whether or not to stay at home with the kids or continue on your career path. What was most frustrating? What was the most rewarding of your choice? What factors influenced your decision? Any advise?
