MBA Moms Most Likely to Opt Out

Business Week recently published a story titled, MBA Moms Most Likely to Opt Out: Check it out here

The findings of this study show that MBA moms are more likely to take career breaks than doctor or lawyer moms. A variety of reasons for this difference are hypothesized, including financial investment in the degree, family-friendliness of the work environment, and harder to define career trajectories.

STAYING IN THE GAME

I recently received a lovely note from our corporate lawyer just checking in and seeing how business was going.  He loves the idea of Cubes&Crayons and wanted to see what kind of progress we were making.  How thoughtful!  He then said he would love to chat and catch up if I had a moment; he had some new things in the works.  After several scheduling mishaps, we finally connected a week ago.

Thanks to the Mothers & More members who shared their personal stories about work and family. Your situations and experiences may be different from each other, but many of us see ourselves in one or another of you. I fully recognize that significant hurdles still exist and pay inequities are very real. Some of you are frustrated with the lack of OnRamps you are finding, and others with the fact that it essentially costs you money to go to work, but we have to believe that a shift is on the horizon.
