The entrepreneurial OnRamp can be incredibly steep

Maybe it's just the world I'm living in, but mommy-start-up businesses seem to be all the rage now.  Everyone says it's an easy way to spend more time with the family, make a few extra dollars and work for ourselves... but is it really all a bed of roses?  Does the fact that I get to work in my pajamas outweigh the fact that I'm still working at 1am?  Does the 6 ft commute outweigh the 10ft long to-do list waiting for me on my desk?  Does the fact that I no longer have corporate office politics to contend with make up for the cold calls and negotiations I have to do with "choo-choo" noises screaming from the next room?  Will my 1yr old grow up to respect my hard work and determination... or will he just be incredibly embarrassed that his mum was on TV looking like that?

I guess we can only choose what's right for us at the time... but if we keep up the misconception that any on-ramp is easy, or easier, we're just kidding ourselves.
