Girls on the Run Manhattan is looking for a new executive director! It's a part-time job with immense rewards, including interacting with elementary school age girls throughout Manhattan. Our founding ED is leaving this summer, and we would like to start training her successor in July. Candidates should email a resume, with relevant experience highlighted, and a cover letter about why working with a New York City non-profit is appealing, to Sophia_Banay@condenast.com. The start date is August, 2008. ABOUT THE POSITION: This is a paid position requiring between 20 and 30 hours of work a week. It requires a candidate who is motivated, capable, and independent, able to administer a fast-growing program that, in spring of 2008, served ten Manhattan schools and 160 New York City girls. The ED supervises every facet of the program‹from training potential coaches and coordinating with program sites, to traveling every year to the Girls on the Run International Summit. The ED also reports to the board on a seasonal basis on registration and scholarship numbers; works with the Treasurer of the board to ensure that annual budgets are created and met; and coordinates with the various committees of the board to ensure that their missions are ongoing. QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates for this job should have a bachelor¹s degree: a graduate degree, and/or previous experience with non-profit administration, is a huge plus! In addition, candidates need some prior work experience and a good grasp of Manhattan geography. Previous volunteer experience with a non-profit is not necessary, but a can-do, enthusiastic attitude, a love of fitness, and a desire to work with children are all mandatory! REQUIREMENTS: GOTRM currently operates without formal office space; therefore, candidates must be able to work from home, with regular access to a computer with Internet and email, a phone, and a printer. The ED’s salary is $30,000 per annum. ABOUT GIRLS ON THE RUN MANHATTAN: Girls on the Run Manhattan is an affiliate Council of Girls on the Run International, which has a network of over 100 locations across the U.S. and Canada. GOTRM is an interactive life-skills program that uses the power of running to change the way girls view themselves and their opportunities. Our innovative health education and wellness program takes place during two four-month seasons per year (September-December and March-June), and combines training for a 3.1 mile run/walk event with self esteem enhancing lessons that encourage healthy habits and an active lifestyle in 8-12 year old girls. Girls learn to stretch themselves‹physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally‹and in the process, are inspired to begin a lifetime of self respect and healthy living!
