POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT – Recruitment Manager
Organizational Overview
City Year unites a diverse corps of young adults, ages 17 to 24, for a demanding year of full-time community service and leadership development. These young leaders work as tutors and mentors to school children and mobilize volunteers in physical community service projects. Founded in 1988 in Boston, City Year now has 1,500 corps members serving in 17 cities across the U.S. and in South Africa. City Year Los Angeles was founded in 2007 and has ambitious plans to grow the program dramatically over the next few years.
Position Overview
As a member of the City Year Los Angeles team, the Recruitment Manager will be responsible for recruiting young leaders from diverse backgrounds for a demanding year of full-time community service. The Recruitment Manager is an integral part of the City Year Los Angeles Recruitment and Admissions Department. This position is responsible for the recruitment, selection and retention of incoming corps members. Responsibilities include coordinating and participating in outreach events, providing customer service to potential applicants, confirming applicants, and coordinating the interview process.
Responsibilities
• Implement Recruitment Program: Identify and recruit potential young leaders ages 17-24 to participate in City Year.
• Manage Relationships with Candidates: Create a customer service program that encourages timely and consistent communication with prospective and accepted young leaders.
• Conduct Outreach Programs: Coordinate and participate in presentations at career fairs, high schools and universities, religious and youth organizations, etc.
• Develop Strong External Relationships: Plan and implement events for new and current recruitment volunteers that train, and support them.
• Conduct and Present In-Depth Analysis: Gather information and present findings in a comprehensive and concise manner.
Qualifications
• BA/BS Degree preferred and 1+ year(s) experience recruiting
• Proven ability to work as both a team member and independent leader
• Desire to work with a diverse staff and applicant pool
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and interviewing skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Management (personnel, program/project) experience
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks and think critically
• Sales experience is helpful
• Proficiency in Spanish language a plus
