High achieving women often lose touch with what they really want, especially after life becomes more busy and complex with a husband and children. Their decisions may be heavily influenced by what others expect of them…their families, friends, co-workers, and society at large. Not to mention all the self-imposed “shoulds.” High achieving women expect a lot of themselves, but often put self care last on the list.

These people really don’t mind seeing a “gap” in employment, but they do want to know what you have been doing, and what skills you’ve been using in your volunteer work that are relevant and transferable to the job you’re applying for.
The key is to present your relevant volunteer activities as things you’ve done to keep your skills sharp while out of the workforce, or to build/develop new skills.
Not only are MBAs expensive and at risk of losing their gold-standard status as more courses are launched every year, but now researchers have suggested they are also a bit of a waste of time for women. So what is the MBA really good for?
The latest blow to the MBA's reputation has been dealt by academics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Harvard University who studied why female MBA graduates don't tend to do as well as their male counterparts in the jobs' market.

First Lady Michelle Obama told a gathering at Howard University's School of Business today that working mothers must choose their own paths, balancing work with family.
"The one thing--the one message that I have is for all of you struggling with this issue is just remember there is no right answer. It took me a long time to figure that out. There is no one right way to do any of this. And the choices and the decisions will change, given your circumstances," she told an audience at a panel discussion at the school.
