A New Path a Couple of Years Out……

I was inspired by your story. My career prior to a voluntary leave consisted of 17 years of professional sales experience, ten in media advertising (online primarily) sales. I am attempting to on ramp back into my online advertising career after four years off, with the exception of a short stint working for a social network.  I feel stuck. Job boards seem like a black hole, and a waste of my effort.  I am a member of Sales Ladder, and some of the other sites in which staffing agencies work primarily from - Monster, JobDot, Hot Jobs etc.

Did you network via Linked In?  I know from being in sales that all my jobs came from peoplehat I knew, so I thought that I would find jobs on the Job Boards and, then see if anyone on my Network, worked or had names of contacts.  I have wasted too much time, sending resumes via e-mails?  Do you have any helpful hints and does New Path have groups in SF Bay Area that meet in person and not just virtually?

Thanks for your blog and inspiration. Now, I have a bit of hope after months and months of hiring managers treating me as if I am now irrelevant.
