Two Weeks and Counting

Less than two weeks to go until our open house at Cubes & Crayons (www.cubesandcrayons.com) and I am on a feverish adrenaline rush. Each time I check something off my to do list of things completed, I add three more things. Even as I sometimes find it overwhelming, I am energized and excited by the upcoming opening. My business plan was written last June and now 6 months later, I am less than 2 weeks away from it becoming a reality.

In many ways, launching a company is a little like giving birth. Full of nausea, anticipation, and labor pains, the growth from idea to reality is an amazing journey. Today, with my last hire finally complete, I am walking high. I have venture capitalists interested in investing for our expansion and we haven't opened our doors. As I meet with accountants, trouble shoot deliveries that have not arrived, arrange for the final hanging of pieces, I feel energized. The sleepless nights are well worth it all, and although at some point I will come down exhausted right now I am enjoying the ride.
